Laura Kolinski-Schultz

I have been working with ceramics and pottery for over 40 years. I hold a BA from Mount Union College, a BS from Kent State University, and have completed all but thesis in Art History and Art Education from KSU. I have also studied with Yih Wen Kuo (Northern Illinois U.) and Ah Leon (“Father of the Taiwan Teapot”) at Penland School of Craft in North Carolina.

I enjoy both throwing and hand-building. My work is influenced by Ah Leon and the Yixing pottery tradition. Certified to teach visual art K – 12, I have been teaching for 36 years. With teaching being a tradition in my family, I believe It’s natural to share what I’ve learned.

The most rewarding part of teaching ceramics is seeing students master basic techniques so they can go on to express themselves creatively with clay. Students can expect both fun and challenges in my classes.
