Begin or continue your ceramic journey with us at CMA and get your hands dirty with a supportive community that is passionate about clay.
The Process to become a member
For the experienced, consider our guild as a way to cultivate your passion. The process to become a Canton Ceramic Artists Guild member includes:
- Completing a minimum of 3 ceramic classes at CMA
- Serving as a Pot Shop Assistant learning our studio workflow
- Loading and firing our electric bisque kilns
- Loading and firing our gas fired kiln
- Recycling clay
- Maintaining general cleaning schedules


Member Responsibilities
Guild members volunteer their time and knowledge to help with a variety of tasks at the Canton Museum of Art, including:
- Volunteering a minimum commitment of 5 hours per month
- Attending monthly guild meeting
- Firing students’ artwork
- Maintaining the studio classrooms
- Demonstrating throwing or hand-building techniques
- Creating handmade items for fundraising events
